Extra! Extra! Read all about it. It's time for another edition of the Black-N-Gold News. Since there is a Pens game on Sunday, Mrs. Black-N-Gold gives you the latest news from the world of Black-N-Gold today.
BLACK-N-GOLD NEWS
Penguins-Our Pens woes continue as the Pens have been playing woefully bad. They dropped a 3-2 OT loss at home to St Louie on Tuesday. Last night they lost in Carolina to an awful Hurricanes team, 5-2. Now they can't even beat the teams they're supposed to beat. With the Pens in danger of missing the playoffs, will first-year Coach Mike Johnston be one-and-done? Injuries continue to burden them, too. C Evgeni Malkin and F Patric Horqvist are still out. Rumor is they may return to play during the back-to-back games this weekend versus Arizona and San Jose. Meanwhile, D Christian Ehrhoff is expected out several days with an upper-body injury. With only 8 games left in the regular season, the Pens need to get back in the win column now more than ever. Let's Go Pens!!!
Pirates-Our Pirates dropped another Grapefruit League game yesterday, losing to Atl 7-5. The loss evens their record at 10-10 with some ties thrown in. The good news is that CF Andrew McCutchen returned to the lineup on Tuesday. With an off day on Wednesday, there was a new-look Cutch on the field for yesterday's action. Cutch cut the dreads. It didn't impede his hitting ability as he went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Roster moves are expected to be announced this morning. Mrs. Black-N-Gold will keep you updated. One move that is being mentioned is regarding INF Jung Ho Kung. Word is that maybe a roster spot isn't as iron-clad as was anticipated. Kung did play in yesterday's game although he did get some time in at Pirate City on the off-day. Perhaps the Buccos will have Kung start the season in Indy to get some at-bats and some seasoning.
Steelers-The big news for our Steelers this week was the signing of OLB James Harrison to a 2-year deal. The Silverback decided to return to the Black-N-Gold instead of following Dick LeBeau to Tennessee. Another signing was made yesterday as the Steelers will bring back WR Darrius Heyward-Bey on a 1-year deal . Although he is considered a contributor on special teams, here's hoping Heyward-Bey can double his reception total of last season, all 3 catches worth. Almost one month until the draft begins on April 30. Let's Go Steelers!!!!!!
