THE 5 BIGGEST RIVALS OF THE BLACK-N-GOLD

It's Tuesday so Mrs. Black-N-Gold brings you #2 of the 5 Biggest Rivals of the Black-N-Gold, the Philthedelphia Cryers. Penguins fans and Cryers fans are known as fanatical followers of their respective teams and both fan bases have a deep-rooted hatred for Pennsylvania's other hockey team. Both the Pens and Cryers joined the NHL in 1967. During the Cryers heyday, many, many moons ago, they won back-to-back Stanley Cups as the Broad Street Bullies in 1974 and 1975. The Pens suffered an embarrassing winless streak of 42 game at the Philthedelphia Spectrum from February 7, 1974 to February 2, 1989, going 0-39-3. All that changed when Mario Lemieux arrived in Pittsburgh and led the Pens to their own back-to-back Stanley Cups in 1991 and 1992. Since then, the intensity of this rivalry has been amped up. There was the Eastern Conference Seminfinals of 2000 that went to 5 overtimes. And don't forget the shouting match between Cryers coach Peter Laviolette and Pens assistant Tony Granato on April 1, 2012. And you can't ignore the fact that Jaromir Jagr teased Mario and the Pens and signed with Philly as a free agent back in 2011, the same year that Max Talbot jumped ship to the Cryers. And remember, it was the City of Brothers on Drugs that got their nice, new, shiny arena before the Pens did. All the more reason to loathe these jagoffs and kick some Philly butt next time the Pens and Cryers faceoff. That is why the Philthedelphia Cryers are #2 of the 5 Biggest Rivals of the Black-N-Gold. Let's Go Pens!!!
