BLUES N'AT

Robert Randolph Presents the Slide Brothers has something for everyone.  Do you like the blues? They’ve got it covered. Traditional? It’s in there. They have gospel to make you want to get up and testify. They even have some pop with a nod to Fatboy Slim (with an assist from Shemekia Copeland’s fabulous pipes). And they, for sure, have something for the guitar lover in you.  Robert Randolph has taken Calvin Cooke, Darick Campbell, Chuck Campbell and Aubrey Ghent out of the church and into the recording studio for our enjoyment. These gentlemen were raised on the sacred steel tradition of steel guitar and translate it into pure ear candy. Their version of the Allman Brothers’ “Don’t Keep Me Wonderin’” would make brother Duane proud. They really put the gospel into George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord”, too. The Slide Brothers channel some of the greatest rock/blues guitarists in history. They did their ode to Duane as well as Eric Clapton on “Motherless Children” and Stevie Ray Vaughan with “The Sky Is Crying”. Of course Slowhand and SRV were doing their own cover versions of those classics, too. What the Slide Brothers do is re-do these tunes with their own exquisite slide work. Overall, this CD is a wonderful mix of traditional, gospel, and secular music that sounds good coming out of my stereo or my church. Kudos goes to Robert Randolph for presenting the Slide Brothers to an unsuspecting and appreciative public.  I highly recommend the Slide Brothers' CD. Your ears will thank you.
