These are your keys to today's game. 1)The Pirates send RH Charlie Morton, 1-6, 3.29 ERA, to the mound. Last time out Ground Chuck collected his first win of the season, 4-3, over Washington. Morton pitched 5.2 innings giving up 5 hits, 1 run, 1 earned run, 4 walks and 4 strikeouts. The Mets counter with RH Bartolo Colon, 3-5, 5.34 ERA. Colon also defeated Washington in his last start, 5-2. Colon pitched 8 innings yielding 5 hits, 2 runs, 2 earned runs, 1 homer, 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Grind 'em up, Ground Chuck! 2)With last night's 4-2 win, the Mets go for 2 in a row. They haven't done that at home since April. These are your keys to tonight's game. 1)With yesterday's come-from-behind 5-3 victory, the Pirates have won 6 of their last 8 games. 7 of 9 would be fine! 2)Thanks to yesterday's pinch hitting heroics from Jose Tabata and Gaby Sanchez, the Pirates are tied for the NL lead with 21 pinch hits this season. Keep calm and win ballgames! 3)The Pirates send RH Edinson Volquez to the mound. Eddy is 2-4 with a 4.37 ERA following a 3-1 win over Washington in his last start. He allowed 1 run, 1 earned run, 1 home run, & 3 hits in six innings in that start. The Mets go with LH Jonathon Niese, 3-3, 2.70 ERA. Score early, score often, score BIG! 2)Although they lost yesterday, the Pirates did take 3 out of 4 from Washington. Take a bite out of the Big Apple! The Pirates start RH Brandon Cumpton while the Mets go with RH Jacob deGrom. DeGrom surrendered 3 home runs in a loss to the Dodgers his last time out.
